James M. Green

James Marshall Green of Monocacy Village, Frederick, died January 30, 2018. Jim was born on March 31, 1935 in Walkersville to Marshall Otis Green and Isabel Zimmerman Green.

Jim was a proud graduate of Frederick High School. He studied in Washington, DC at Strayer Junior College and at American University.  Jim served in the Army for two years and was stationed primarily in Germany. Upon his discharge Jim returned to Washington and worked for the Railroad Association. Jim returned to Frederick to care for his parents and resided for the remainder of his life in the family home. Jim was a court reporter and worked for many of Frederick’s most prominent judges during his career with the judicial system.

He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick where he served as a member of the Church Council and the choir for many years. Always interested in community service, Jim was a long-time member of the Kiwanis Club of Frederick, Inc.

Jim traveled extensively. He enjoyed vocal and instrumental music, and theater. Throughout his life, Jim was an ardent fan of classic movies.

Jim is survived by cousins Laura Virginia Green Wilhide and Gene Arthur Green, both of Walkersville; Margaret Green Lebherz of Frederick; Vada Maxine Green of Reading, PA; Martha Ann Zimmerman Pennington of Union Bridge; Dorothy (Dot) Zimmerman Albizo of Silver Spring; and Glenn (Jack) Zimmerman, Jr. of Parkville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 3, at Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 East Church Street, Frederick, MD. Visitation will be at 11 am followed by the funeral service at 12 noon, and burial at Glade Cemetery, Walkersville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the James M. Green Fund, which will support music studies in Frederick County, at the Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
