Mr. Josep Caminals Muntanola, age 92, of Frederick, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, Frederick. He was the husband of the late Antonia Gost who passed away in 2011. Born on January 2, 1926 in Barcelona he was the son of Alejandro Caminals and Conxita Muntanola. Mr. Caminals and his wife Antonia were a part of the youngest generation to remember the Spanish Civil War, 1936-1939. They got married in 1954. He worked as a traveling salesman for several pharmaceutical companies. In the early years he took care of his clients mostly on a motor bike in all kinds of weather. He later was promoted to a mid-level executive position. Upon retirement he and Antonia moved to the United States in 1996 to live with their daughter and son-in-law. In his free time, he enjoyed electronics, photography, was an artist and painter, a ham radio operator, and enjoyed traveling in the United States. Mr. Caminals is survived by his daughter Roser Caminals-Heath and husband Bill of Frederick, his niece Anna and nephew Joan and his wife Maria Encarna, their children Marc and Tatiana, and granddaughter Nura. Also surviving is his best friend and companion Starlene Fouche. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, February 11 at 3:00 pm at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St. Frederick, Maryland 21701-5405. The burial of his cremains will be private.
