Dorothy Fay Dennis

Mrs. Dorothy Fay (Cheeks) Dennis, age 85 longtime resident of Adamstown, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018. She was the wife of the late Bernard Edward Dennis who passed away on June 13, 2012. Born on July 16, 1932 in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Daniel E. and Dolly E. Cheeks.

Mrs. Dennis was first employed at American Optical and later at Hood College retiring about 25 years ago. She loved her family, in particular her granddaughter who she enjoyed shopping and going out to lunch together.

Mrs. Dennis was the mother of Bernard E. Dennis II, and his fiancé Tina Gibson of Frederick, the grandmother of Rachel E. Dennis of Frederick and her fiancé Robert McClung of Ijamsville. She is also survived by her former daughter in law Katherine Dennis of Frederick, her sister in law Betty Easton of Frederick and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be remembered by her special friends who will miss her dearly Cynthia and Bill Grable, Danny and Biddie Piasecki, and Effie Fulmer. She is preceded in death by Sanders Elbert Cheeks who was like a son to her, and Lou (Cheeks) Mills and Carol (Cheeks) Devilbiss who were both like a daughter to her.

Friends will be received on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 5 to 8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10 AM. The interment will follow in Mt.
