Donald Lee Plunkard

March 17, 1923 — September 26, 2017

Mr. Donald Lee Plunkard, 94, of Frederick, died Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Country Meadows. He was the husband of the late Dorothy Jean (Stauffer) Plunkard, who preceded him in death in 2007.

Born March 17, 1923 in Urbana, he was the son of the late Guy and Emma (Leather) Plunkard.

Donald was a custodial engineer with FCPS. He opened West Frederick Middle School in 1958 and retired in 1985 after 30 years. After retiring, he worked for Keeney & Basford Funeral Home for 20 years. Also, he was member of the Jefferson United Methodist Church.

Donald is survived by his daughters, Donna Jean Brandenburg and Deborah Lynn Talbott, grandchildren, Kristi Frizzell (Tim Wilson) and Devon Blackall (Scott), great-grandchildren, Samantha Frizzell (Dennis Kim) and Aiden Marcelino, sister, Ethel Rice, friends, Betty Kanode, Rick Hall and Fred Burrier, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, Wayne Brandenburg and numerous siblings.

The family would like to thank the staff of Country Meadows, Carroll County Hospice and Right at Home Staff.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7pm, on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Friday, September 29, 2017 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Chaplain Tim Shatzer and Rev. Dr. Howard West will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson United Methodist Church, 3882 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson, MD 21755.
