Donald Wayne Linton

August 22, 1948 — September 9, 2017

Mr. Donald Wayne Linton, 69, of Frederick, on Saturday, September 9, 2017, entered eternal rest and set flight into the arms of God after a four year courageous fight against Melanoma cancer, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of 50 years to Janet Smith Linton. Born in Frederick County on August 22, 1948, he was a son of Ruby Harshman Linton, of Woodsboro and the late Irvin C. Linton.
Donald proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army and now joins his predeceased Vietnam Veteran brothers. He retired in 2002 from the Montgomery County Traffic Division.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are his children, Don Linton, of AZ and step children, Richard Wood and Becky , of Harpers Ferry, WV and Melissa L. Hairr, of Thurmont, two brothers, Larry Linton and Ronald Linton and wife Darlene, all of Harpers Ferry, WV, one sister, Mary Persinger and husband Richard, of Johnsville, five grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will aslo be missed by many friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Irvin "Buster" Linton and his extended family, Wayne Boone, Terry Smith, Bonnie Hunter, Bobby Smith, Paul DeGrange, Sr., and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, September 15, 2017, at the funeral home. Pastor Jeffrey Shaw, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund, C/O Frederick Memorial Hospital, 400 West Seventh Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
