Virginia Lee Grimes

Mrs. Virginia L. Grimes, 86, of Walkersville, died Sunday, June 25, 2017.  She was the wife of the late R. Kenneth Grimes.

Born January 2, 1931, in Dickerson, she was the daughter of the late Harry J. and Mildred V. Stottlemyer.

She is survived by daughters, Pamela Shaw, Joni "Jo" Finch and Patsy "PJ" Smith, daughter-in-law, Beverly Grimes, grandchildren, Gina Buntin (Jeff), Jen Isemann (Brian), Angie Zimmerman (Shaun Beall), Jim Finch (Morgan), Mike Smith (Lauren), Ben Grimes (Anna), Bill Smith (Tara), Ally Gaffigan (Sam) and Sam Smith, 12 great-grandchildren, siblings, Carlton Stottlemyer (Belinda), Pat Doyle (Tom), Tubby Stottlemyer (Janice), Becky Gatrell (Jake), Helen Allnutt (Jim), Jan Butler (Albert), Susie Bodmer, Rennie Baugher (Butch), and Debbie Nannetti (Gene), sister-in-law Louise Main, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Virginia was preceded in death by her son, Michael Grimes, granddaughter, Jessica Finch, brother, Sam Stottlemyer and sister, Lou Deadrick.

A woman of simple pleasures, her greatest joys in life were being surrounded by family, working crossword puzzles, and Thursday night bingo.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 7PM, on Thursday, June 29, 2017, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held ay 11:00AM, on Friday, June 30, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 705 W. Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701.  Pastor Suzanne Jones will officiate.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
