Kenneth Eugene Rippeon Sr., 74, of Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Glade Valley Center in Walkersville. He was the beloved husband of 43 years, to the late Barbara Shaff Rippeon.
Born on August 14, 1942, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Dorsey and Clara Rippeon. He was a graduate of Walkersville High School, class of 1959. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force. Kenneth worked for over 20 years as a local milk truck driver and later for Frederick County Animal Control. He was an active member in his church the United Church of Christ in Woodsboro, as well as a member of the Woodsboro Volunteer Fire Department, Moose Lodge #371, Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion Post #11, and a lifetime member of the NRA.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Eugene Rippeon II and wife Becky; daughter, Karin Marie Kidd; sister, Shirley Morgan and husband Kenneth; grandchildren, Zachary Michael Wathen and fiancé Karyn Grantham, Jordan Nicole Wathen, Lauren Elizabeth Rippeon, Allison Taylor Rippeon, Nathan, Hannah and Zachary Reyer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and special friend, Marian Kinsey.
The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will begin at 11am at the funeral home. Reverend Sean DeLawder will officiate. Interment will follow in Saint Pauls Lutheran Cemetery.
