Alice Marie Maher

January 29, 1929 — June 13, 2017

Alice Marie England Maher, 88, of Monrovia, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at the Northampton Manor Health Care Center. Born in Frederick on January 29, 1929, she was a daughter of the late G. Marion, Sr., and Violet Beall England.
She was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1946 and had worked as an office clerk for over 30 years at Frederick Trading Company and had worked part time in the concession stand at 75/80 Dragway. She was a long time member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist. Church, Urbana and she was a youth leader.
Surviving are her two children, Thomas F. Maher, Jr., and wife Carolyn, of Frederick and Beverly A. Sharrer, of New Market, brother, Clifford England of Shady Point, OK, sister, Eleanor McClain, of Monrovia, brother-in-law, William Hipkins, of Frederick, grandchildren, Michael Maher and wife Tita and Andrew Maher and wife Jenny, three great grandchildren, AJ, Justin and Juliana, many nieces,nephews cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by siblings, Mildred Murphy and husband Merhl, Sylvia Hipkins, G. Marion "Sonny" England, Jr.,and wife Toni Lou, a brother-in-law, Donald McClain and sister-in-law, Susan England.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and care givers at Northampton for the wonderful care given to Alice. Also a special thanks to her room mate Barbara Myers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, June 16, 2017 at the funeral home. The Rev. Sandi Phillips, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
