Gordon James "Jim" Roby

December 9, 1939 — June 5, 2017

G. James Roby, 77 of New Market, Md passed away Monday June 5, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late MaryAnne Roby. He was born on December 9, 1939 in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He served as a U.S. Marine. He retired from the Montgomery County Police Department and started a private investigation firm as well as several other family businesses. He is survived by his children: Jim Roby, Ron Roby (Charlotte), and Traci Bird (Dan), his grandchildren Jimmy Roby, Rebecca Smith (Brandon), Bryan Roby, Virginia Roby, Michael Roby, Joey Bird, Tori Bird, Ethan Bird, and his great grandchildren Wesley Smith, Nora Smith, and Avery Roby. He is also survived by his sisters Della Stull (Frank) and Iva Haragos (Joe). He was predeceased by his parents, Wilbur and Eva Roby as well as his sister Jean Hubans (Alex).

A mass of Christian Burial is schuduled for Friday, June 9, 2017 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd St., Frederick, MD 21701. The interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marine Corps League in memory of G. James Roby at 3619 Jefferson Davis Highway Suite 115, Stafford, VA 22554.
