Milton Cox Herring

Milton Cox Herring, 82, of Frederick, was gathered into the loving arms of the Lord on Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Frederick, Maryland.

Milton was steadfast in his devotion to God; love for his family and never met a stranger he didn’t like. He was a thirty four year employee of IBM and after retirement worked for H&R Block as a dedicated Enrolled Agent for nearly 25 years. All those who knew Milt were charmed by his wit, wisdom, unfailing kindness, prodigious memory, and encyclopedic knowledge of many subjects, not the least of which was the history of Texas, the place of his birth. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.

Milton is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy, by his children, Linda and Marc, a stepdaughter, Tami and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, dear friends, and colleagues.

Family and friends may gather at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701, on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 from 4pm to 7pm, with a rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will take place at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 East 2nd Street, Frederick, MD 21701, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2pm. Father Kevin Farmer will officiate. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Frederick, MD.
