Bernard Edward Clem

Mr. Bernard Edward "Bernie" Clem, 81, of Frederick, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017. He was the husband of Zhiyuan Xie and predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Lee Winpigler Clem. Born in Frederick on July 25, 1935, he was the son of the late Eloise Catherine Moore Clem and the late Edward Allen Clem.
Bernie was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1953 and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He enjoyed a long career with the Alpha Portland and Lehigh Portland Cement Companies. He was a long time member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, avid Orioles fan, and loved to watch the old Gunsmoke TV show. He enjoyed traveling and attending family and high school reunions.
Surviving in addition to his wife is, son Blain Clem of MD and grandsons Kyle and Kameron Clem and  his sister, Jann Ernest and husband Guy, of GA, and many nieces and nephews, including, nephew, Matthew Ernest and wife Jennifer and niece, Sarah Juarez and husband Manny, and great niece and nephew, Carmen and Jason. He will also be remembered by step son, Lipeng Shi and wife Yan Xiang and step grandson, Youxvan Shi. He was preceded in death by a son, Troy Allen Clem and daughter-in-law, Kimberly Ann Clem.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1415 West 7th Street, Frederick, MD 21702. The Rev. Stacey Brady, will officiate. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
