Marion Alice Embrey, 95, of Frederick, MD, was peacefully brought home to our Lord on April 29, 2017 at Heartfield’s, where she was lovingly cared for.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Leland "Ed" Embrey.
Born May 26, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Polish immigrants, the late Stanislaus Soliwoski and Julia (Rospond).
Marion graduated from Mount Holyoke College, MA, in 1943 with a degree in physics. She married her "fly boy" sweetheart the same year and moved around the world with him during his Air Force career, together raising their six children.
She and Ed also enjoyed serving the community doing a variety of volunteer work through their church, schools and the American Red Cross.
Marion is survived by her six children; Lee Embrey of Carmel, CA, Glenn Embrey and wife, Lola of Redondo Beach, CA, Joanne (Jan) Beaird and husband, Mike of Billings, MT, Peter Embrey and Peggy Campione of Ashburn, VA, Denise Daly and husband, Chris of Frederick, MD, and Kevin Embrey and wife, Nina of Bethesda, MD; 13 grandchildren, Alex Embrey and wife, Jessie, Erin Embrey, Sophie Stava and husband, Jensen, Noah Embrey, Rachel Jackson and husband, Jayme, Grant Beaird and wife, Carrie, Michael Embrey, Daniel Embrey, Colleen Eberhardt and husband, Terry, Scott Daly and wife, Jenna, Liz Daly, and John Daly, and Nicholas Embrey; 6 great grandchildren, Lucy, August, Christian, Lorelei, Roxanna, Beatrix, (and one on the way!); many nieces and nephews, and many dear and wonderful friends.
Marion is also survived by her sister, Florence "Betty" Bisceglie, and is predeceased by brothers Edward C. Edwards, Henry Stanley, and sister, Estelle Dempsey.
Visitation with family will be at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St, Frederick, MD on Monday, May 8th, 2017, from 6pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 8428 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on May 9th, 2017 at 11am. Father Keith Boisvert will officiate. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to St. Katharine Drexel Church at above address, or American Red Cross of Western Maryland, 1131 Conrad Court, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
