Patricia Ann Smith

Patricia Ann (Patty) Kidd Smith, beloved Mother, Aunt, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at her home in Waynesboro, Pa.  She was the daughter of the late Charles L. Kidd and Betty Redmond Kidd. Patty was born in Frederick on July 9, 1949. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Charles Kidd, Jr (Bubby), sister, Connie Kidd Main, nephew, Charles Kidd III (Chuckie), and Godson, Lawrence M Brown III (DJ Law).

Patty was a member of the first graduating class of Governor Thomas Johnson High School in 1967 and a graduate of ABI Institute as a medical secretary in 1994.

Patty is survived by her son, Wesley Patrick Smith, the love of her life, her beloved granddaughter, Emma Grace Smith, who she called her Pumpkin, and her talented grandson Evan Elliot West. She is also survived by Cortney Claudine Brown, her very special Goddaughter. Also left to cherish her memory are the father of her son, Gordon Smith, Kaylene A Stup, her friend for life; Diane and Lawrence Brown, Jr, devoted best friends for over fifty years; Barb Kegley-Kroger (Jeff), her friend since 1979, and special friends Judy Virts, Carolyn Murphy, and Linda Kennedy.

In addition, she is survived by her nieces, Tammy S Lare (Charlie), Barbara Kidd Junkin (George), and Jamie L Kidd (Jason); her nephews, Earl S Huse, Brian T Kidd, Matthew R Kidd, great nephews, George Junkin, Hank W Junkin, and great nieces Taylor L  Kidd, Harvie K Junkin and Casey L Junkin. Patty is survived by numerous cousins including Earlene P Easton, her partner for adventure.

She spent her life dedicated to her family. She was there for her parents, siblings, nieces and nephew and her friends whenever they were in need of a hug, a smile, inspiration to succeed, or a loving home to find comfort. She will be sadly missed by many.

Patricia worked in a variety of jobs during her life-retail, banking, secretarial, and medical administration. She was the manager of Applegate Apartments for over a decade. She enjoyed traveling and took trips to Hawaii, the Caribbean, and Italy with her travel buddy, Bobbie Kegley-Koger .

Before her lengthy illness, Patty loved yard sales, thrift shops, and slot machines.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Patty’s memory.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 pm, on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, May 1, 2017, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home.  Patty will be buried alongside her parents, brother, and nephew in Mount Olivet Cemetary, Frederick, Maryland.
