Mr. Otho James "Ody" Keller IV, 75, of Frederick, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington D.C. He was the husband of Shirley (Shafer) Keller for 46 years.
Born August 30, 1941 in Frederick, he was the son of the late Otho and Frances (Walter) Keller III.
Ody was a graduate of Frederick High School and received a Bachelor's Degree from Hood College. He was a veteran of the US Army. For many years, he was a real estate broker, real estate investor entrepreneur, owned a restaurant, sold rugs, and ran a vending machine business in Frederick. He was multi-talented in construction, and owned several buildings in the historic district Frederick. Ody was on the Frederick Parks & Rec. Community Foundation, Towson University Alumni Committee, Francis Scott Key Memorial Foundation Roger Brooke Taney House Committee, Celebrate Frederick Committee, and a longtime member of the Sons of American Revolution.
Ody enjoyed being part of the Frederick community. He was always donating his time to make the area a better place. He touched many lives in the last 75 years, and would not have done it differently.
In addition to his wife, Ody is survived by his son, Otho "OJ" Keller V, granddaughter, Kayla Keller, sisters, Frances Mills and Catherine "Kitty" Crum and husband Clyde, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 7pm, on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel at the funeral home. Rev. Albert K. Lane III, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Utica, will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
