Helen Virginia Stevens

Mrs. Helen Virginia "Tootie" Shreve Stevens, 79, of Frederick, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of the late Chester Robert "Bob" Stevens, her loving husband of 58 years. He died on December 30, 2016. Born in Frederick Junction on March 30,1938, she was the daughter of the late William Joseph Shreve Sr. and Helen V. Keeney Hilderbrand Shreve.
She worked at the local canning factory, Hood College dining hall, and as an office manager for a Frederick Optometrist, Dr. Daduk, until deciding on being a full time stay-at-home mom/homemaker. She enjoyed crafts with her family, especially her grandchildren. Other favorites of hers included cooking for family gatherings and trips to visit friends in Illinois. As well as visits to national parks, especially Gettysburg, Lancaster, and the surrounding areas.
Helen is survived by son Robert C. Stevens and wife Melissa of Winter Haven, FL, daughter Debra Lynn Stevens of Frederick, daughter-in-law Donna E. Stevens of Greencastle, PA, brother John T. Hldebrand and wife Sherry of Middletown, and William J. "Billy" Shreve Jr. of Frederick. She is also survived by her three granddaughters Kristina "Nicki" Goldizen and husband Adam, Adrian P. Stevens and  April R. Badger and husband Travis, and one great-granddaughter Kaylee Goldizen as well as many nieces, nephews and special friends. Also, surviving are her brother-in-law's Donald L. "Donnie" Stevens and Warren E. Stevens and wife Judy and sister- in-law Betty L. Shreve. She was preceded in death by her husband Bob, son Randy E. Stevens, brother Bernard "Bunny" A. Shreve, sisters Catherine "Peachie" Poplin, and Delores "Susie" Baugher.
Helen's wishes were to be cremated with no funeral service. A memorial for both Helen and Bob Stevens will be planned later. Arrangements are with the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick.

Celebration of the lives of Chester R. and Helen V. Stevens will be held from 11a..m, to 4 p.m., on Sunday, June 4, 2017, at the Independent Fire Company, 310 Baughmans Lane, Frederick, MD 21702. Please join the family for a luncheon and sharing stories of two wonderful people.
