Irma Elizabeth Howard

Mrs. Irma Elizabeth Howard, 94, of Braddock Heights, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy.  She was the wife of the late J. William "Bill" Howard Jr.

Born September 9, 1922, in Frederick she was the daughter of the late Roy and Irma (Holter) Huffer.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown and St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Feagaville.  The most important thing to her was being a mother and grandmother to her family.

Irma is survived by her daughter, Kathy Thomas and husband Joseph, son, Kevin Howard and wife Marilyn, grandchildren, Jon Phelps Jr. and wife Stephanie, Michael Phelps, and Jennifer "Jen" Howard, great-grandchildren, Garrett, Mea, Sonya and Christian, sister, Catherine Stockman, numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Irma was preceded in death by great-grandson, Joshua and sisters, Helen Huffer and Janet Basler.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to her caregivers, Jade Thomas, Latoya Thomas, Victoria Alexander and to all the people at Shepherd Staff and Hospice of Frederick County.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm, on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701.  The funeral service will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main Street, Middletown, MD 21769.   Pastor Kathy Vitalis Hoffman will officiate.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
