Mrs. Irma Coleman, 91, of Ijamsville, passed away on March 15th at the Kline Hospice House after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Coleman. Born June 25, 1925, in Ijamsville, she was the daughter of the late Lilburn H. and Annie E. Hall.
Mrs. Coleman was a graduate of Frederick High School and spent all her adult life as a homemaker. She was a devoted member of Grace Trinity United Church of Christ, Old Baltimore Pike, for over 70 years. She served on the altar committee for many years and was also a dedicated participant in church fundraisers as well as community out reach events. Irma enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening and was a wonderful cook. She was especially accomplished at baking cakes, pies and cookies. Irma loved all animals, having a special fondness for cats and birds, and spent quality time in her sunroom watching the wildlife.
Irma is survived by her niece, Lisa Frederick and husband Adam, nephew Mark Renn and wife Lisa; two great nieces, Jordyn Renn and Elaina Frederick; three great nephews Christopher and David Frederick, and Andrew Renn. Irma is also fondly remembered by very good friends Nina Esworthy, Betty Grossnickle, and Delores Murphy.
Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by sister Darlene Renn and brother-in-law Robert W. Renn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. The Rev.Dr. Elsabeth Hilke will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
