Maxine Elizabeth Watkins

Maxine Elizabeth Nusbaum Watkins, 91 of Frederick, Maryland passed away on Tuesday March 7, 2017.
Born November 1, 1925 in Littlestown, PA she was the daughter of the late Harry William and Grace Elizabeth Warner Nusbaum.  Maxine was predeceased by her husband of forty-four years, Paul Alvah Watkins in 1990, her brother Kenneth W. Nusbaum and son in law Stephen T. Lingg.
Maxine graduated in 1945 from Frederick Memorial Hospital receiving her nursing diploma.  She worked as a registered nurse for over forty-five years, which included working in the CCU and ICU before ending her career as the night supervisor, then retiring from Frederick Memorial Hospital in 1992.
She was actively involved with the Four County Quilters Guild, Young at Heart Senior Group at New Market United Methodist Church, Senior Recreation Council, Taskers Chance Senior Bridge Group, Spring Ridge Senior Center and the Frederick Memorial Hospital Alumni Association.  Maxine loved to travel with friends and vacation with family.  She had an artistic talent with quilting being her primary focus in her later years.
She is survived by her daughters Linda E. Pearce and husband Lee, Mary E. Thomas and husband J.T. and Paula Lingg.  Her grandchildren are Kelly Zibell (Brian), Kristen Dahlberg (Scott), Benjamin Thomas (Meredith), Andrew Thomas (Kelly), Elizabeth Carmichael (Jeff), Brenden Lingg (Sarah Colwell), Ryan Lingg and Colin Lingg.  Maxine's great-grandchildren are Sutton, and Presley Zibell, Ephraim and Warner Thomas and Katherine Carmichael. She will also be remembered by her goddaughter, Cassandra Hammond and Larry Fagan, her friend her made her urn.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 8, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.,at New Market United Methodist Church, New Market, MD.  The Pastor Scott Clawson, will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to New Market United Methodist Church. P. O. Box 111 New Market, MD 21774. Arrangements are with the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick.
