Georgia Mae Myers

Georgia Mae Potts Myers, 82, of Knoxville, Maryland, went to the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2017. She was born September 7, 1934 in Stumptown, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late George Raymond Potts and Bartolia Louise Beach Potts. Georgia was married to Lewis Calvin Myers Jr. on December 13, 1952. She attended St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Point of Rocks, Maryland. Georgia was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1136 in Brunswick, Maryland, past member of American legion, Brunswick, Maryland. She was a graduate of Frederick High School, Frederick, Maryland. Georgia was a devoted mother and friend, always thinking of others first. Georgia enjoyed dancing, she was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors and yardwork.

Georgia is survived by her significant other, Vernon Shores and six of her seven children, John Calvin Myers, Sr. and husband John Connors of Frederick, MD, Cindy Hiltner and husband Robert of Frederick, MD, Barbara May and husband Jimmy of Jefferson, MD, Raymond Myers and wife Susan of Thurmont, MD, Vickie Stone and husband John of Frederick, MD, Deborah Reed and husband Shaun of Hagerstown, MD. 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, her sisters Mary Patricia (Pat) Benoit, Alice Marie Hargett and brother George Franklin Potts.

Preceded in death by her husband Lewis Calvin Myers Jr., son Robert Lee Myers, sisters Margaret Boatwright and LouAnn Keyser.

Special thanks must be given to the staff of Glade Valley Nursing Center and Hospice of Carroll County.

The family will receive expressions of sympathy at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church, Frederick, Maryland 21701, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at the funeral home. Officiating at the graveside service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Point of Rocks, Maryland will be the Rev. Terri Driver-Bishop of the Emanuel Trinity Lutheran Church. Pallbearers will be JC Myers, Jason Myers, John Stone, Stephen May, Anthony McAffee, and Randy Suter.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Carroll County, 292 Stoner Avenue, Westminster, MD 21157.
