Margaret Cooke

Margaret Gebhardt Cooke, 92, of Frederick, Maryland, went to join her husband Elwood George Cooke on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Born on July 18, 1924, in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Susan Wolf Gebhardt. Margaret worked in the school system as an account clerk and was a longtime member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Margaret is survived by her two sons, George E. Cooke and wife Deborah of Lower Burrell, PA and Robert H. Cooke and wife Joanne of Gaithersburg, MD; sister, Josephine Montenigro of NJ; five grandchildren, Gretchen, Lindsey, Timothy, Paul and Philip Cooke; four great grandchildren, Joshua, Jackson, Bryce and Grant; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Catherine Banks, Mary Becker and Ann Loeffler and their spouses.

The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd St, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11am at the church. Father Charles Wible will celebrate. Interment will be private in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
