Dorothy Carole Marsh

Mrs. Dorothy “Dottie” Carole Marsh, nee Hupe, 82, of Frederick, died on March 1, 2017 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family. Her beloved husband, Nelson Case Marsh, preceded her in death. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on February 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mildred Hupe.

Dottie graduated from Carrick High School in Pennsylvania. She spent many years as a volunteer at Frederick Memorial Hospital and Hospice. Dottie’s early career was as a police dispatcher in Hanover Park, Illinois. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Frederick and spent many years participating in church groups such as the Miriam Circle.

Everyone admired Dottie for her kindness and generosity. She opened her heart and home to many and made them feel like a part of the family. Dottie carried herself with grace and poise, offering a smile to everyone until her last breath. Dottie will be sorely missed by both family and friends.

Dottie is survived by children Kay Green Smith & Rex, Gary Marsh, Rick Jordan, Susan Kelly, Gery Jordan, Cynthia Hanna & Michael, and Juliette McWilliams & Dan. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Megan Jennings (Kyle), Eric Green, Lon Gallagher (Linsey), Sean Gallagher (Dionne), Lisa Butler (Tony), Colter Jordan, Case Jordan, Sean Kelly (Katie), Ryan Kelly (Kelly), Michael Hanna (Jeni), Kaitlyn Hanna (Tommy), and Jessica Corun (Steven); and 10 great-grandchildren: Harlow, Logan, Estella, Brogan, Harper, Leo, Delaney, Lyla, Alexis, and Adalyn. Her beloved siblings Ida Hupe, Bill and Barbara Hupe, and Howard and Germaine Hupe as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews also remember Dottie. Her brother Robert Hupe preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Friday, March 10th, 2017 at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 11th, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 131 W. 2nd St, Frederick.
