Raymond Randolph Putman

Raymond Randolph “Buddy” Putman, 96 of Frederick, MD, passed away on February 13, 2017 at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his family. He was the loving and devoted husband of 62 years to the late Betty L. Rhoderick Putman.

Born on March 27, 1920 in Lime Kiln, MD, he was the son of the late Bertha (Zimmerman) and Raymond Cleveland Putman. Buddy worked with his father on their dairy farm until his father’s passing in 1962. After his father passed, Buddy continued owning and operating the dairy farm on Putman Road. Buddy worked on the farm for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and Capital Milk Producers. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, fishing and his passion for hunting however, nothing came close to his love and dedication to his family. Family always came first.

He is survived by his three children, Emily P. Caviness and husband Doug of Frederick, Gwyn D. White and husband Jon of Smithsburg, and Raymond R. “Randy” Putman II and wife Mary of Mississippi; four grandchildren, Eric Bowens (Jaclyn), Brittany White, Blair Rice (Andy) and Raelynne Terry (Ryan); six great grandchildren, Gavin and Brandon Bowens, Chloe and Carter Rice, Sammy Laine and Kendalynne Terry.

In addition to his wife, Betty and his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Taylor Chrestman; and his three siblings, Austin Z. Putman, Charles W. Putman and Kathleen Putman Krantz.

The family will receive friends from 4-7pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, February 16th at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
