Doris Lucille Edwards

Mrs. Doris Lucille Edwards, 87, of Jefferson, passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Glade Valley Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late William" Bill" D. Edwards, who preceded her in death in 1991.

Born July 31, 1929 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late David W. and Grace (Himes) Nuse.

Doris graduated from Frederick High School Class of 1947. After marrying Bill, she worked for Acme Markets where they both worked for many years. She was a life long member of the Jefferson United Church of Christ. She loved to travel, play bingo and cards. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Debra Crutchfield and husband Thomas Sr.; grandchildren, Thomas Crutchfield Jr. and wife Michelle; and Kimmy Porter and husband Christopher; great-grandchildren, Austin Crutchfield, Tyler Crutchfield, Chellsie Shoemaker and Bailey Crutchfield, in-laws, John Edwards and wife Ann, Rebecca Johnson, Nelson May, Helen Edwards and Opal Edwards; special friends, Margaret Cline, Eloise Jones, Audrey Blank and Pat Main, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Glade Valley, especially the nurses on the Sugarloaf unit, for all of their love and care.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm, on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 12:00PM, on Friday, February 17, 2017, at the Jefferson United Church of Christ, 3837 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson, MD 21755. Interment will follow at Jefferson Reformed Cemetery, Jefferson.
