Eva M. Stride

Mrs. Eva M. Stride, 97, of Frederick, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Irvin F. Stride, who died on April 4, 2013. Born in Frederick , on December 6, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Harry A. and Rosa Lee Snyder Young.
During WW II she worked at Fairchild in Hagerstown as "Rosie the Riveter". She was also employed as a seamstress for E. J. Fennel Sewing factory in Walkersville in the sixties. She was an active and long time member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, and enjoyed working on church projects with her many friends at the church. She was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for many years and enjoyed entertaining residents at the home. Eva was also a Girl Scout leader. She was loved by many people.
Surviving her are three children, Jean Boone, Sharon Stride Poole and Marty Stride, one brother, Warren E. Young, her grandchildren, Vicki Geisler, Carol Smith, Roger Boone, Penny Ruthvin, Mark Boone, Donald Dick, Jeffrey Dick and John Stride, many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Boone, one sister, Florence Young, and three brothers, Harry A. Young, Jr., Donald L. Young and Harvey S. Young.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., on Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, on Thursday, December 22, 2016 from the Trinity United Methodist Church, Frederick. A luncheon will follow the service with interment after lunch, in the Prospect Cemetery, Mt. Airy.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Trinity United Methodist Church, 703 West Patrick Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Online condolences may be shared at keeneybasford.com.
