Terry Richard Shankle
August 20, 1945 — December 11, 2016
He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the 29th Division of the National Guard. He was a fireman for the Frederick County Fire and Rescue for many years and spent his career with the United Fire Company, # 3, where he was also a member since the early 60's until he retired. He was a member of the Amvets Post # 2, the Francis Scott Key American Legion, Post # 11 and the Frederick Church of the Brethren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Mary Beth Sier and Doug, of Fairfield, PA, Nicole Shankle and Michael Boud, of Frederick, Darren Hamrick and Tina, of Middletown and James Cromwell and Laura, of Clear Springs, brother, Rodney Shankle, of Frederick, sisters, Charlotte Gaver, of Frederick and Janice Draper, of North Carolina, grandchildren, Zachery, Cody, Delaney, Keirra, Brandi, Traci and DJ, and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 p.m., on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Frederick Regional Cancer Center, Patient Assistance Care Program, 501 West 7th Street, Frederick, MD 21701.
