Joan K. Fletcher

Mrs. Joan K. Fletcher, age 80 of Frederick, left this earth to join her beloved husband in heaven on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at her residence.  She was the wife of the late Donald E. Fletcher, Sr. who passed away on March 13, 2016.  Born on October 12, 1936 in Tennessee she was the daughter of Hickman and Beulah Kite. Mrs. Fletcher graduated from McDonald High School in Mohawk, Tennessee.  She was a homemaker, raising her son and later entered the workforce working for the Veterans Administration at the VA Medical Center in Washington DC.  In her free time she loved traveling with her husband to the beach, bowling and being with her grandchildren. Mrs. Fletcher is the mother of Donald E. Fletcher, Jr. and wife Cary, the grandmother of Shawn Robert Brothers, Christopher Fletcher and fiancée Karla Rodriguez, Nicholas Fletcher, and Hunter Fletcher, and the great-grandmother of Zaiden Ace Brothers and Avery Fletcher.  She is also survived by her brother Michael Kite and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her siblings Kenneth and Bobby Kite and Linda Kirk. Friends will be received on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at 1 PM at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Rd, Knoxville, MD 21758.  The interment will follow in the adjacent cemetery.
