Edward Drake Jr.

Mr. Edward “Sonny” Harold Drake, Jr., 75, of Frederick, died on Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.  Born September 1, 1940, in Long Beach, California, he was the only son of the late Lieutenant Colonel Edward Harold Drake, USMC Retired and Nelda Elizabeth Means. Living relatives include Mrs. Jacquelyn Aldrich, a cousin, of Lake City, Florida, as well as several other cousins

Sonny resided with MedSource Community Services, Inc. for nearly 30 years.  He lived in two different homes over the course of his residence with MedSource.  Sonny attended the Human Development Council medical day program in Frederick for over 10 years.  He previously attended the Scott Key Center day habilitation program in Frederick, Maryland for many years prior.  Sonny was also a former resident of the Potomac Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Sonny will be especially missed by his MedSource caregivers, Erin Honeycutt, Jacob Thompson, and Tom Huffman, as well as former housemates, Jeffrey Geisler and George Disney.  Sonny will also be remembered by staff and countless friends at the MedSource Community Services, Inc., Human Development Council, the Scott Key Center, and Service Coordination, Inc.  Sonny loved doing puzzles, looking at newspapers, and flirting with pretty ladies.  He is known for wearing flat newsboy caps and he loved sweets!

Friends will visit beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 10, 2016, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, Maryland, with funeral services to follow at 1:30 p.m.
