Phyllis Louise Rice

Mrs. Phyllis Louise Runion Rice, 95, of Frederick, died on Friday, June 3, 2016, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Royce R. Rice, who preceded her in death in 2015, they were married in 1942.

Born in Cumberland, on October 6, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Emory and Theresa Ash Runion.

She had worked for several years as a secretary in the Development Department of Hood College, retiring in 1984.

Mrs. Rice was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the Brean Sunday School Class.

Surviving is one son, Stephen R. Rice and wife Susan, of Frederick, two granddaughters, Stephanie L. Fields and husband Timothy, of Frederick, Rebecca R. Gutierrez and husband Michael, of Lake Linganore, step great-granddaughter, Alecia Fields, of Monrovia, four great grandchildren, Andrew Machi, Amanda Grace Fields, Megan P. Gutierrez and Ryan M. Gutierrez, one sister, Betty O'Donnell, of Levittown, PA, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Johnson, M. June Hinkle and Lillian Willison and two brothers, Clyde Runion and Raphael Runion.

The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in the chapel of the mausoleum of the Mount Olivet Cemetery, 515 South Market Street, Frederick. Rev. Richard Krauss will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum.
