Anna Mary Frances Willard

Mrs. Anna Mary “Susie” Willard, 89, of Frederick, died on Monday, May 30, 2016 at her home. She was the wife of the late James V. “Tuck” Willard, who died February 15, 1981. They were married November 18, 1948.

Born December 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Henry Chester Eshbach Krantz and Cordelia Frances Summers Krantz. She graduated from Frederick High School, Class of 1944 and in her early years she worked for Potomac Edison, Blue Ridge Bus Line, and later worked for many years at Fredericktown Savings Institution and retired from Fredericktown Bank & Trust Company in 1988, after 17 years in the Trust Dept.

She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church for over 50 years and active with the XYZ group. She was also a member of AARP, N.A.R.F.E., and the Frederick Travel Club. She was a member and served as treasurer of the Monocacy Village Homemakers Club.
Very active and supportive of our military and veterans, she was a life member of the Francis Scott Key Post 11, American Legion and John R. Webb Post 3285, VFW, where she also served as treasurer for 50 years. Mrs. Willard was a monthly volunteer at the Martinsburg Veterans Administration Hospital, where they coordinated refreshments and bingo for the patients. She was a life member of the VFW National Home.

In 1995, at the age of 69, she donated a kidney to her late nephew, Randy Krantz.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandra Willard; granddaughter, Christine P. Willard Hutto and husband Chris, and grandson, Ryan J. Willard; great-granddaughter,  Addison Hutto; numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael J. Willard; and four brothers, William H.S. Krantz, George C. Krantz, Harry T.P. Krantz, and Franklin J. Krantz; and niece, SP 5 Sandi Krantz and nephews, Pfc. Franklin J. Krantz Jr., who died in Vietnam June 13, 1970 and Army SP 4 Robert L. Willard, who was killed in Vietnam, July 28, 1971.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 6 PM on Friday, June 3, 2016, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Saturday, June 4, 2016, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel, at the funeral home.  Rev. Harry C. Cole will officiate.  Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
