Lena E. Barger

June 3, 1922 — March 31, 2016

Mrs. Lena E. Barger, age 93 formerly of Frederick, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016. She was the wife of the late Charles R. "C.R." Barger who passed away in 1986. Born on June 3, 1922 in Mountville, she was the daughter of the late Martin L. and Alice A. (Pearl) Jenkins.

Mrs. Barger was a graduate of Frederick High School. Following high school she worked at the law offices of Edward Nikirk as a legal secretary. She continued her employment as a ward clerk at Frederick Memorial Hospital retiring in the mid 1980's. Mrs. Barger was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jefferson, Moose Lodge 1582 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, both in Brunswick. In her free time she enjoyed crocheting, singing, playing the guitar and enjoyed painting. Most of all, she enjoyed her family and her job as a homemaker.

Mrs. Barger was the mother of Charles R. "Skip" Barger and his fiancée Margie Jensen of Purcellville, VA and Martin E. Barger and wife Susan of Martinsburg, WV, the grandmother of Bootsie Giroux, Keren Mengel, Chris Barger, Laura Creamer, and Bryon Barger and the great-grandmother of 8.

Friends will be received on Sunday, April 3 2016 from 5 to 7 pm at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Monday, April 4, 2016 at 2 PM. Pastor Katrina Holland from St. Paul Lutheran Church, Jefferson will officiate. The interment will follow at the Clustered Spires Cemetery, Frederick.
