Pasquale “Patrick” Joseph Michielli Sr., 97, of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Glade Valley Nursing Center in Walkersville. Patrick was the husband of the late Stella Della Valla Michielli.
Born on August 26, 1918, in Danbury, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Angelo Anthony and Rosemarie (Amodio) Michielli. He was raised in Waterbery, with his brothers, Victor, Michael, Peter, Ralph, all whom preceded him and his surviving sister Rose Sarnataro. Patrick enlisted in the United States Navy in September of 1936, serving until his honorable discharge in September of 1940 as a Signalman Third Class. With the onset of the war, Patrick was drafted to serve in the United States Army. In May of 1941 he was able to return his previous position within the Navy. Patrick was stationed at the Naval Forces Headquarters, London and onboard the British battleship, the HMS Anson, teaching American codes to British forces. After his military service, Patrick worked as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Union Local 77 Operating Engineers. Prior to his illness Patrick was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Frederick and was a member of the Knights of Columbus when he was residing in Prince Georges County.
Patrick is survived by three sons, Patrick Joseph Michielli Jr. and wife Linda, Angelo “Tony” Anthony Michielli, Lawrence Michael Michielli and wife Liz; and four grandchildren, Brendan Michielli, Claire Michielli, Zachary Michielli and Joshua Michielli.
The family will receive friends from 10-11am on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 E. 2 nd Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am at the church. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
