Rebecca Ann (Hipsley) Oden, 67 of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. Born on December 29, 1947 in Cumberland, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harold H. and Virginia L. (Brown) Hipsley. Becky worked for more than 25 years on base at Fort Detrick, where she worked as an administrative assistant in the Histology and Pathology department. Becky was dedicated to her faith and was a long time member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was an avid kayaker, bicycler and loved to garden. Rebecca enjoyed traveling near and far. She was a huge fan of the Ravens, Orioles and Capitals. Becky is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey Warren Oden and wife Kara Lynn Muller and Joseph William Oden and wife Kelli Rebecca Oden; four siblings, Harolyn L. Sherman and husband Mike, Harold H. Hipsley and wife Marggie, Yvette R. Leith and husband Sam, Joann E. Barrera and husband Jun, and Stephanie M. Hipsley and fiancé Gary; two grandsons, Sidney and Ethan, and numerous nieces, nephews and grandogs, Lucy, Grace, Dakota, and Nico. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, a Rosary Service will be at 7:30pm. Friends will also be received from 9:30-10:30am at Saint John Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd St. A memorial mass will begin 10:30am at the church. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, The American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels or Saint John's Catholic Church.
