Nelda Glynne(James)Thomas died August 15, 2015 in Pittsburgh, PA. She was 93 years old. She was predeceased by her parents, Jesse Marvin James and Vivian Elizabeth(Smith)James, and by three brothers: Billy Leonard James, EdMenzo James, and ThomasCashenJames. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Malcolm Cecil Thomas,in Jacksonville, TXby her brother Robert James and sister-in-law Jeanne James,and inPittsburgh, PAby her daughter Betty Pauline Thomas and son-in-law Keith Conover, andher granddaughter Laurel Victoria Conover. She was born in Commerce, Texas on February 18, 1922, and grew up in Jacksonville, Texas. She graduated from Tyler Commercial College, and it was there she met her future husband at a USO dance where she was a hostess. They were married in 1947 after WWII. They lived in Georgia and Texas, and spent a year in Bangkok, Thailand, before moving to Maryland in 1971. Nelda always belonged to social clubs and usually served as an officer.Playing bridge and traveling were her particular favorite activities. The family will receive friendsfrom 2 to 4pm, and 6 to 8pm on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home,106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will be heldat 11:00AM, on Thursday, August 20, 2015at the Evangelical Lutheran Church,31 Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Rev. Dr. Robert Driver-Bishop will officiate. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
