Laura Roe Delphey

Mrs. Laura Roe Delphey, 92, of Frederick, passed away on Thursday, August 13th, 2015 at her home. She was the wife of the late Julien Paul Delphey. Born on June 26, 1923, in St. Michaels, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Levi Duke and Mary Oliva (Shockley) Roe. Mrs. Delphey worked alongside her husband operating Delphey's Sports Store on West Patrick Street. She was a longtime member of Calvary United Methodist Church, a member of the Rainbow Bells and a member of the Frederick Lions Club Auxiliary. She enjoyed tending to the many flowers in her yard and was also a member of the Garden Club of Frederick. She is survived by her two children, Jay Delphey and wife Linda, and Julia Delphey Wesolek and husband Timothy; five grandchildren, Paula Dougherty and husband Andrew, Lora Iames and husband Thomas, James Wesolek, Mary Haymon and husband Kris, and Anne Wesolek; seven great grandchildren and her sister, Shirley Wooden of St. Michaels, MD. In addition to her husband Julien and her parents, Mrs. Delphey was preceded in death by her infant son, Grant Delphey. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm on Monday, August 17th, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 18th at Calvary United Methodist Church, on the corner of Bentz and West Second Street. The Reverend Harry C. Cole will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Gray, David O'Hara, James Wesolek, Timothy Horman, Bill Lubking and Andrew Dougherty.
