Virginia Virl Peterson

Virginia Virl Peterson, 90, of Frederick, MD, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015. She was born December 30, 1924 in Spindale, NC, daughter of the late Rev. Walter Adin and Sara Emma (Padgett) Blanton. She grew up in Shelby, NC and attended Crossnore Academy. During WWII, Ginny worked in Baltimore for Westinghouse assembling radio headsets for B52 bombers. After the war, she met and soon married Mervin (Pete) Peterson on March 21, 1952. They lived in Baltimore and Glen Arm, MD. Following Pete's death in 2005, Ginny moved to the Country Meadows Retirement Community in Frederick, MD. She was a member of the Arnolia United Methodist Church and the Parkville American Legion. Beloved wife and mother, Ginny is survived by her children, Gary Peterson and wife Jean of Frederick, Virginia (Ginny) Murray of Hanover, PA, as well as four grandchildren, Brooke Peterson, Erik Peterson, Angelo Ricardo, Mathew Murray, and great grandsons Angelo Ricardo Jr. and Jesse Hoopes, sister-in-law, Doris Stout and husband Jim, many nieces, nephews, their families and numerous friends. As the youngest of nine Blanton children, she was predeceased by sisters, Lillian Bailey, Kathleen Moore, Bertha Childress, Ebba Marie Masimore and brothers, Charles, Lewis, Boyd and Rev. Lawrence Blanton. The family will receive friends from 4-7pm on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The funeral service will be held 10am on Monday, August 3rd at the funeral home. Interment will be in Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, Timonium, Maryland.
