Betty L. Rhoderick Putman, entered eternal rest July 10, 2015. Betty was born on July 22, 1926 to the late Charles E. and Erma Wachter Rhoderick. Betty was the wife of Raymond Randolph "Buddy" Putman for 62 years and mother to Emily P. Caviness of Frederick (Doug), Gwyn D. White (Jon) of Smithsburg, and Raymond R. "Randy" Putman II (Mary) of Mississippi. Betty was the graduate of Liberty High School 1943 and the Frederick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing 1946. Betty devoted over 30 years in her nursing career where she received numerous awards which included, The Maryland Honorary Nursing Practice Award and The 1984 Woman of the Year Award given by the Frederick Business and Professional Women's Club. In addition to Betty's farming family, she devoted much time and energy to the Bethel Lutheran Church, PTA, sewing, and 4-H. Betty was proceeded in death by two sisters, Helen Frey and Lucille Murphy, two brothers Charles and Harry Rhoderick and grandson Taylor Chrestman. Betty is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Harbaugh of Woodsboro, and Ruth Kuhn of Middletown; two brothers, Paul Rhoderick of Middletown, and Arthur Rhoderick of Hagerstown. Betty is blessed with five grandchildren, Eric Bowens (Jaclyn) of CA., Brittany White of Poolesville MD., Blair Rice (Andrew) of MS., Raelynne Terry (Ryan) of MS., as well as six great grandchildren; Gavin and Brandon Bowens of CA., Chloe and Carter Rice of MS., and Sammy Laine and Kendalynne Terry of MS. The family would like to give special thanks to the Willow Tree Manor for their dedicated care and kindness. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 14, from 5 to 7 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 15 at 10:00 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethel Lutheran Church, 9664 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD 21702.
