Betty Joyce Blumenauer, 81 of Frederick, entered into Eternal Rest on June 27, 2015, with her loving and devoted husband Donald of over 61 years by her side. Born on May 18, 1934 in Prospect, MD, she was the daughter of the late Jerome and Gladys Snyder of Unionville, MD. Betty bravely fought an 18 month battle with cancer, facing every challenge with strength and courage and beating most odds. Her passions included growing and caring for her flowers, bus trips, camping, visiting Lancaster, watching the sunrise at the beach, having family gatherings, and spending lots of time with her husband. She was a compassionate volunteer at Frederick Memorial Hospital for a few years, and a member of Post 11 American Legion Ladies Auxilliary. She enjoyed attending services at the Frederick Church of the Brethren for a number of years with neighborhood friends. She was a 1952 graduate of Frederick High School and enjoyed monthly lunches with alumni. She is survived by her 5 children Dale and wife Linda of Boonsboro, Donna of Germantown, Sandy of Frederick, Alan and wife Cathy of Frederick, and Mark of Middletown. She is also survived by 5 Grandchildren, Chris, Kasey, Michael, Jessica, and Kristen, and 2 Great Grandchildren, Sophie and Gavin. She is also survived by one brother, Robert Snyder of Harpers Ferry, WV. She is predeceased by 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Betty will be truly missed and remembered by family and friends. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, July 3 at 10:00 AM at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD. Inurnment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
