Joan Yednock

d. June 3, 2015

Mrs. Joan L. (Keith) Yednock of Rockville went home to the Lord on June 3 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital surrounded by and knowing the love of her family and friends. The second of two children of the late Rodney R. and Anna Louise (Schultz) Keith, Joan was born October 3, 1944. Married February 20, 1971, Joan was the loving and devoted wife of Ken Yednock, and a dedicated mother and grandmother. Joan was employed full-time before having children and then chose to stay at home to raise her two daughters. Later she returned to part-time employment only so she could continue as an avid supporter of her daughters' schooling and other activities. Joan was the anchor of a family she cherished with pride. Joan enjoyed gardening, researching the family's genealogy, and cooking, especially desserts. She was notably talented with crafts which she applied to summer Bible School sessions and creating her annual Christmas card. While Joan and Ken primarily attended Mount Airy Full Gospel Church, they also attended Germantown Baptist Church. Joan will be greatly missed by members of both churches as well as her family and friends. Surviving, in addition to Joan's husband, are two daughters, Trisha L. Farrell and husband Joseph of Rio Rancho, NM, and Kimberly A. Yednock and husband Todd of Richmond, VA, along with four grandchildren, Malachi, Faith, Micah and Caleb Farrell. Joan was preceded in death by her brother Rodney R. Keith, Jr., on February 17, 1989. A "Going Home Service" will be held at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, on Thursday, June 18, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Thomas Gue of Mount Airy Full Gospel Church officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Private internment will be on a later date in Parklawn Cemetery, Rockville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Prison Fellowship, P. O. Box 1550, Merrifield, VA 22116-1550 or Paralyzed Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth St., NW, Washington, DC 20006.
