Mrs. Betty Louise Shankle, 79, of Frederick, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Robert L. Shankle, Sr., who died on January 31, 2000.Born on March 8, 1935, she was a daughter of the late George Edward and Helen Burns Thrasher. She along with her husband owned and operated Shankle's Upholstery Shop, in Frederick. She was a life member of the United Fire Company and auxiliary. She was a member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren and the Frederick Elks Lodge. Surviving is her daughter-in-law, Diana Shankle, of Kearneysville, W Va., and two granddaughters, Megan Dewese and Andrew, and Shannon Shankle and Philip, one sister Marion Thomas, great grandchildren, Mason, Madden, Miles and Ariana, several nieces, nephews, godson, Christopher Burns and nephew, Tony Petry. She was preceded in death by he son, Robert L. Shankle, Jr., who died in 2008, a brother, Charles Burns and sister, Katherine Petry. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., on Monday, March 9, 2015, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, from the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick. The Rev. Sandi Evans Rogers, will officiate. Entombment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions made be made in her memory to the United Fire Company, 79 South Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Attn: Chris Apperson.
