Mrs. Margaret Susan Butcher, 93, of Frederick, died on December 24 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of 43 years of the late Wade C. Butcher and was the beloved mother of Vickie Sue Butcher Fox. Born on March 9, 1921, she was the daughter of George William Hooper and Anna Mary Simmons Hooper. She was a very special person liked and loved by all who knew her. She was a unique person who never lost her childlike innocence, wonder and belief in the goodness of people. She had a kind heart and a good soul. She faced many trials and tribulations in her 93 years and always persevered with a smile on her face and no animosity toward anyone and never complained. She always puts the interests of others first making many personal sacrifices so others could fulfill their dreams or needs. She was a wonderful mother who thought the Sun rose and set in her daughter. She was a wonderful person who enjoyed the simple things in life and wasn't interested in the material things and set an example for all of us and how to lead our lives with peace and goodwill to everyone. She will be truly missed by those who loved her. Her roots in Frederick go back to 1745 and she was a direct descendant of clockmaker and American Revolution patriot John Fessler. During her lifetime she worked in various jobs but the one she enjoyed most was in the cafeteria of the Washington Street and South Frederick elementary schools. She loved children and they loved her. In addition to her husband, she was pre-deceased by a baby daughter, and her siblings Joseph Hooper, Katherine Hooper Gilliam, William Hooper and Robert Hooper as well as sisters in law Dolly R. Hooper and Polly Hooper Atkinson and brother-in-law Glenn Gilliam. She was the last of her immediate family.
