Judith Davidson Walker

Judith Davidson Walker, passed away on October 26, 2014, in Frederick, Maryland. The wife of Col. Anthony Walker, USMC, who predeceased her, Mrs. Walker was born Judith Ament Davidson in Norfolk, Virginia on January 29, 1919. She was the daughter of Vice Admiral and Mrs. Lyal Davidson and grew up on or near naval bases in Norfolk, San Diego and Newport. Strikingly beautiful, athletic and talented in languages and literature, "Judy" graduated from Sweet Briar College in 1941. She married then Major Walker in 1947 in Washington, D.C., their union lasting until Col. Walker's death in 2004. Often alone raising three boys while her husband served overseas, she was a devout member of the Episcopal Church, gardened and pursued her passions for music and reading, particularly mysteries and historical fiction. When the Walkers retired to Middletown, Rhode Island, Mrs. Walker served as a member of the Colonial Dames, Whitehall and the Garden Club and attended St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Portsmouth. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren, inspiring them with her vital intelligence, understated humor and cheerful courage. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Mr. and Mrs. William Walker of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Lt. Col. and Mrs. Andrew Walker of Poolesville, Maryland, and Daniel Walker and Wendy Dion of Greenbank, Washington; six grandchildren and their spouses and partners; and seven great grandchildren. She leaves a host of friends and admirers of all ages from the Navy, Marine Corps, Norfolk, Middletown, Newport, St. Mary's Church and Buckingham's Choice in Adamstown, Maryland. A memorial service will be held at Buckingham's Choice, 3200 Baker Circle, Adamstown, MD 21710. Additionally, a memorial service will be held in Rhode Island, date and location to be determined. Donations may be made in Mrs. Walker's name to St. Mary's Church, 324 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871; the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, Attn: Development, 875 N. Randolph St. Ste 225, Arlington, VA 22203; and Sweet Briar College, PO Box 1057, Sweet Briar, Virginia 24595.
