Dr. John Vere Risser, DVM, 88, of Adamstown, MD passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth Shuey Risser. Born on October 21, 1925 in Lancaster County, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence Baker Risser and Mary Cathryn Shank Risser. John proudly served his country in the US Navy in WW II. He was a graduate of Penn State University and the University of Georgia and was a dedicated veterinarian for many years. Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, John L. Risser and wife Deborah of Lancaster, PA, Robin Risser Mundey and husband Rev. Dr. Paul Mundey of Frederick, MD, and Sherry Risser Nelson and husband Eric of Altamonte Springs, FL, one brother Clarence M. Risser of Annville PA, and one sister Anna R. Ressler of Lititz PA, four grandchildren Peter Mundey, Ryan Risser, Sarah Mundey Dorsey and husband David, and Todd Risser and wife Samantha, and many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick, MD 21701. Private internment will be in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, PA.
