Mrs. M. Elaine Murphy, 90, of Frederick, died on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Homewood Retirement Center, Frederick. She was the wife of the late James E. Murphy, Jr. Born June 30, 1923, in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Edward J. and Mildred E. Thomas Lynch. Mrs. Murphy graduated in 1941 from Seton High School, Baltimore and from 1956 until her retirement in 1985, was employed with Loyola Federal Building and Loan Association, and retired as an officer of the organization. She was a member of Saint Timothy's Roman Catholic Church, Walkersville and over the years had been involved with Saint Matthew's, Saint Thomas More and Cardinal Shehan Schools in Baltimore. She was also a former volunteer with Rainbow Club who provided religious education to special needs children and was an avid bridge player. She is survived by a son, Monsignor Richard J. Murphy, pastor of Saint Timothy's Roman Catholic Church, Walkersville; a sister-in-law, Catherine Thalheimer, of Dover, DE and nephews and nieces. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm on Sunday, June 1 and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9pm on Monday, June 2nd at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E Church Street, Frederick, where a Christian Prayer Service will be held at 8pm Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday, June 3rd from Saint Timothy's Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road, Walkersville, 21793. Interment services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, June 4th, at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 4430 Belair Road, Baltimore.
