Mrs. Mary Frances Shober, 88, of Frederick, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the loving wife of the late Dr. Ralph Wayne Shober, Sr., who died in December 1992. Born in Frederick, on October 5, 1925, she was a daughter of the late George Elmer and Mary Frances Staley Brengle. Known as Frances to her friends and family, she was always a busy lady. Frances graduated from the Visitation Academy and worked in the Hood College Business Office. After her marriage to Wayne, she held several other secretarial positions before becoming a homemaker. She served many years as the church organist for the Frederick Church of the Brethren and the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home. She was also a bookkeeper at the funeral home for several years. Frances was a lifelong, very active member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren, where she served the church on the music committee and in many other capacities. She was also a member of the Bydanho Sunday School Class, the Frederick County Piano Teachers Association and for many years taught piano and organ lessons in her home. Surviving are her three children, Ralph W. Shober, Jr., of Frederick; Marsha Shober Wise and husband David, of Charles Town, West Virginia; and Debra Shober Brown and husband Eric, of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; one sister, Florence B. Shober, of Frederick; one sister-in-law, Cordelia Brengle, New Oxford, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Tanya R. Shober; Stacey R. Shober Leonard and husband Chris; Samantha N. Shober; Lara N. Wise Cichocki and husband Jeff; Emily D. Wise VanderWoude and husband Seaton; Erica N. Brown Rufener and husband Dan; and Inga E. Brown; her two great grandsons, Tanner and Sawyer Cichocki. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul S. and David L. Brengle. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., on Friday, June 27, 2014, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Ave. The Rev. Dr. Paul Mundey, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. The family would like to thank Homewood and FMH Hospice for their kindness and care.
