Mr. Donald Allen McGolerick, 69, of New Market, died suddenly on Monday, May 19, 2014, at his home. Born in Frederick on May 17, 1945, he was the son of Lavinia Harshman McGolerick and the late Jack McGolerick. Donald was in the first class that graduated from the Linganore High School in 1963. He had attended the University of Maryland. He was a member of the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren and New Market Grange. He was an avid sports fan especially the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens. The last several years he was a devoted caregiver to his mother. For most of his life he worked as a dairy farmer and with beef cattle, in the New Market area. Surviving in addition to his mother is his daughter, Dana Lynn Shultz and husband Stephen, of Keymar and his two granddaughters, Amanda and Helen Shultz, also surviving are his aunts and uncle, Kenneth and Carolyn McGolerick, of Frederick and Grace Winpigler, of Thurmont and several cousins. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, May 23, 2014, from the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821-A Green Valley Road, Monrovia. Pastor Leo Barnes and pastor Melissa Barnes, interim pastor's of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, (adjacent to the church).
