Richard A. Del Giudice

August 16, 1935 — January 4, 2014

Richard A. Del Giudice died at his home in Braddock Heights, Maryland, on Saturday, January 4, 2014, in the gentle care of hospice. Richard is survived by his wife of 20 years, Karen Arny Del Giudice. Born on August 16, 1935, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Emanuel and Olympia Jandoli Del Giudice, Richard grew up in West Orange, New Jersey. He was a veteran of the US Army from 1954 to 1956, stationed in Germany. Richard spent his career as a microbiologist with numerous published and collaborative works in his field of Mycoplasma. He retired from the Frederick Cancer Research Center in 2003. Richard leaves behind his beloved family: daughter Jenny Croghan and husband Brent, granddaughters, Lillian Croghan and Lindsey Croghan of Frederick, MD; brothers, Paul G. Del Giudice and wife Eileen of Fairfax, VA, David M. Del Giudice and wife Beverly of Vass, NC and five nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends in remembrance of Richard on Monday, January 13, 2014, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick.
