Mary Rosalie Hood

October 28, 1923 — December 26, 2013

Mary Rosalie (Whipp) Hood, 90, of Hagerstown, formerly of Frederick, died on December 26 at Golden Living Center, Hagerstown. Born on October 28, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Dallas Whipp and Ora Shaffer Whipp. Ms. Hood was an optician at Frederick Optical for years. She also worked at the Redmen Chippewa Tribe 19 in Frederick and was a lifelong member. Additionally, she loved being around her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary is survived by her children Ronnie McKenzie and Larry McKenzie as well as her brother Gene Whipp and numerous grand-children, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Samuel W. Hood, Jr., and siblings Dallas Whipp, Lewis Whipp, Eva Kelley and Betty Jane Powell. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 3 at 2:00 PM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home, Rev. Timothy S. May officiating.
