Ruth Jane Rhodes

Mrs. Ruth Jane (Cole) O'Brien Rhodes, 95, formerly of Frederick, currently of Jacksonville, FL, died Sunday, December 15, 2013. She was the wife of the late Richard O'Brien and Charles Rhodes. Born on May 17, 1918, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Isabel Cole. Ruth was blessed with two daughters, Shirley Ann Notnagle, who passed away on May 5, 2007 and Alice Virginia Gann of Frederick. She retired from American Optical in the late 1980's, where she worked for over 21 years. She enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her vegetable garden. She is survived by her daughter Alice Gann, grandchildren, Urana Notnagle Harris and her husband Mark, Damina Notnagle, Cynthia Weaver, Jiri Leigh Moore and Richie Neal along with several great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 9-10am, on Thursday, December 19, 2013, at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 27 Franklin Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The funeral service will follow at 10:00AM at the church. Rev. Columba Gilliss will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
