Mr. Joseph "Joe" Taylor, 56, of Frederick, died on Friday, November 15, 2013, at College View Center in Frederick, MD following a brief illness and hospitalization. Born March 23, 1957, in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Mary Washington and Henry Taylor. Joe had one sister and four brothers. He had no known living relatives. Joe had a guardian through the Frederick County Department of Social Services. Joe's "family" included countless caregivers, staff, and peers through MedSource Community Services, Inc. where he lived for nearly 19 years. He was also well loved by his day program staff and friends through Unified Community Connections day program in Frederick, MD. Joe previously participated in The Arc of Washington County Crossroads Activity Center, in Hagerstown, MD. Joe was a former resident of Potomac Center in Hagerstown, MD, as well as Rosewood Center, in his younger years. Joe will be especially missed by his primary caregiver of many years, Judy Barker, and a long-time housemate, George Disney and former housemate, Edward "Sonny" Drake. Joe will also be remembered by staff and friends at MedSource Community Services, Unified Community Connections, and Service Coordination, Inc. Joe loved music, dancing, picnics and spending time out of doors. Joe was a friendly gentleman and loved visiting friends. Joe enjoyed books, playing his guitar, watching cars and trucks. He especially loved celebrating Christmas and seeing "Santa Claus". Friends will be received from 11-11:30 am, on Friday, November 22, 2013 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. The memorial service will begin at 11:30 am. Inurnment will be private.
