Eileen Rice

Mrs. Eileen Muirhead Rice, 92, of Frederick, died on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at the College View Center, Frederick. She was the wife of the late Lloyd Joseph "Slugger" Rice, who died in 1979. Born February 27, 1921, in Ireland, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Nessie Pattison Muirhead. In early years she worked for the railroad and later as a homemaker. She was a volunteer with the Home for the Aged; served as a Gray Lady with the auxiliary of Frederick Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Frederick Garden Club. She is survived by a daughter Kerry Kelly (Lyle), of Greencastle, PA; three grandchildren, Alex Kelly (Cynthia), of Columbus, OH, Sean Kelly (Alice Stevens), of Dover, PA and Erin Barnard (Scott), of Monmouth Junction, NJ; two great-grandchildren, Skylar Garrett and Alaina Kelly; and one nephew, Edward Bosler. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pearl Bosler. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2pm, on Monday, April 1, 2013, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. The service will follow at 2:00PM, at the funeral home. Deacon Michael Currens, of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, will officiate.
